What Is A Debit MasterCard?
Our Debit MasterCard is an alternative to writing checks and carrying large amounts of cash. A Debit MasterCard from the credit union ensures your ability to make purchases from merchants who display the familiar MasterCard logo but who do not accept checks. The extra advantage that a credit union Debit Card offers over traditional check/debit cards is its ATM compatibility. You can use your Debit MasterCard to obtain cash from thousands of ATMs coast to coast.
Is There A Difference Between A Debit Card And A Credit Card?
Yes, Credit card purchases can cost you money. Credit cards extend you a line of credit against which you borrow money to pay for goods and services. You pay interest on your unpaid balance. With your Debit Card, each time you useit to pay for something, the amount of your purchase is automatically deducted directly from your credit union Checking Account. No interest. No transaction fee. No annual fee. No hassle.
Where Can I Use My Debit MasterCard?
At restaurants, boutiques, gas stations, grocery stores and other places of business around the world that display the MasterCard logo. Remember your Debit Card's ATM capability! Use it at automated teller machines where you see the Cirrus or Pulse logo. Make cash withdrawals and deposits, balance inquiries and transfers and other credit union account transactions.
How Do I Use A Debit Card?
To make a purchase or pay for a service, simply present your Debit MasterCard to the cashier and sign the sales receipt. If the clerk asks whether its Debit or Credit, always answer Credit. This transaction will still be processed against your checking account through the MasterCard network. If the business offers a card terminal instead of "credit" capabilities, slide your card though the slot and enter your assigned Personal Identification Number (PIN). This is considered an ATM transaction and you are limited to a total of eight per month before a minimal fee will be accessed. The funds in your checking account will be automatically deducted to pay for your purchases.
HINT: Whenever you use your PIN# to process a transaction, it goes towards the eight free transactions per month before being accessed a minimal fee. Avoid processing a transaction through the card terminal except when receiving cash from your account.
How Do I Keep Track of My Transactions?
Always keep your sales receipts and enter the amount of each transaction into your checkbook ledger. When you receive your monthly statement compare it against your ledger for accuracy.
