What is a Credit Union?
A credit Union is a member-owned, not-for-profit, financial cooperative association. Credit Unions, like TPS Credit Union, are dedicated to providing members with financial products and services, in a professional, personal, and confidential manner.
Unlike other types of financial institutions, whose goal is to generate profits to satisfy stockholders, we return our earnings to our members (annually) in the form of:
* Competitive dividend rates paid on savings and investment accounts
* Competitive interest rates on loans and
* New products and services.
Your Money is Safe:
Each member's shares (deposits) are insured by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), an agency of the United States Government, for up to $250,000. And, if your deposits exceed $250,000, no worries. The Excess Share Insurance Corp (ESI) assures deposits for an additional $250,000. The winning combination of NCUA and ESI insures share coverage for up to $500,000.
Who We Are:
TPS Credit Union began in 1934 as Toledo Teachers Credit Union to bring basic financial services to Toledo Public Schools employees, retirees and their families. That hasn't changed. But, what has changed is that we have expanded membership to include anyone in the Education industry...and their family members too!
While our start in 1934 meant offering basic financial services, today TPS Credit Union members have a full range of financial products such as interest-bearing checking accounts, credit cards, debit cards, mortgages and home equity loans, payroll deduction and direct deposit at their fingertips. Members can also take advantage of Bill Payer24, Online Banking and other Online Services.
In addition to TPS Credit Union's Elm Street and Angola Road branches, our members have fee-free access to their funds at a network of ATMs and branches across the country. To locate a branch or ATM near you, click here.
